Kevin Wimmer’s time at Tottenham Hotspur has come to an end after the defender completed a switch to Stoke City on Tuesday.
The writing has been on the wall for the Austrian for some time given that he has struggled to grab a regular first-team spot under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Since joining the club from FC Koln in 2015, the 24-year-old featured just 15 times in the Premier League.
More recently, the centre-back has struggled to break into the partnership between Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, but Wimmer now has an opportunity to gain valuable first-team minutes at Stoke.
Tottenham announced the news on their official Twitter page, while the Potters interestingly confirmed that the club parted with £18m to sign the defender.
It is believed that the North London outfit paid just £4.3m for Wimmer two years ago, which means that they have made a nice, tidy profit on the player.
Some Spurs fans are disappointed to see him go, but the majority wish the Austrian well at Stoke.
