According to The Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur have informed Inter Milan that Jan Vertonghen will not be allowed to leave the club in January.
However, the report – written by Fabrizio Romano – claims that Inter will still look to sign the centre-back on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Vertonghen, who has made 294 appearances for Spurs since arriving from Ajax in 2012, will see his current deal expire at the end of the campaign.
The 32-year-old was left out against Liverpool at the weekend, whilst he was also omitted from the first XI at the start of the 2019/20 season.
According to The Guardian, Vertonghen is considering his options, one of which is to leave Tottenham on a free transfer next summer to join Inter.
As expected, a number of the London club’s fans have been on social media offering their views on the latest developments.
