Last weekend was a great weekend of Premier League football which included some fantastic goals and two good derby matches, Liverpool v Everton and Arsenal v Tottenham. This weekend we have Chelsea v Arsenal and Manchester United v Everton as some of our highlight games, but what’s going to happen?
Will United continue their winning ways? Can Chelsea or Arsenal stay undefeated? We reveal all in this article!
Hull v Crystal Palace
Hull haven’t won a game in the Premier League since the opening day of the season and they lost 4-2 at home last weekend against Manchester City. This weekend, they play Crystal Palace who are undefeated under the recently appointed Neil Warnock in the league. This will be a game with goals at both ends as both teams are scoring freely, but also conceding quite a few as well. Nikica Jelavic and Frazier Campbell to find the back of the net for Hull and Palace respectively, but this game will probably end in a draw.

Leicester v Burnley
Leicester lost 2-0 to Palace last weekend after going on a run of three games undefeated. Leicester manager Nigel Pearson needs to remind his players to go back to winnings ways before the international break occurs. It seems this game against Burnley has come at the right time for them as they have only achieved three points from six games and have only scored one goal. With Burnley’s main strikers Sam Vokes and Danny Ings still out, this looks like an easy win for Leicester.

Liverpool v West Brom
Liverpool have been struggling to balance their competitions this season as they have only won two of their last six competitive games with their recent loss coming at the hands of Basel mid-week. West Brom have improved in form recently, winning their last two league games meaning they are now sitting in mid-table. Italian Mario Balotelli must find the back of the net if he doesn’t want to be dropped when Englishman Daniel Sturridge returns from injury. Liverpool have enough to win this game against the Baggies, and they must get back to winning ways if they want to keep their title challenge alive as well as earning a top four spot.
Liverpool 2-1 West Brom
Sunderland v Stoke
Despite the fact Sunderland haven’t won a single game this season, they have drawn five of their last six, so their game against Stoke this weekend is likely to be a draw as well. The Potters are undefeated away from home so far this season and should be able to keep another clean sheet, like they did against Newcastle last weekend, because the Black Cats haven’t scored in three games this season. Stoke are undefeated in their last five away games in the Premier League so I think they could win this match.
Sunderland 0-1 Stoke
Swansea v Newcastle
Swansea has won their last four games against Newcastle in all competitions but they have failed to win their last three league games. Swansea manager Gary Monk will hope his side can get back into winning ways against the Magpies, whose poor start to the season continued against Stoke last Monday. Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has been assured he won’t be sacked, but more pressure will be on him if they lose. Swansea should win this game.

Aston Villa v Manchester City
After a great start to the season, Aston Villa are starting to fall back to earth after failing to score in their last two games and conceding three goals in both of those games as well. They’ll be boosted by the possible return of Belgium striker Christian Benteke, increasing their goal scoring opportunities. Manchester City is undefeated in 15 of their last 16 away games in the league and has scored at least two goals in 12 of their last 14 games in the league. You would therefore expect the Citizens to win as they also can’t afford to lose ground on Premier League leaders Chelsea. The strike force of City should be too much for Villa to handle without their main man Dutchman Ron Vlaar.
Aston Villa 1-3 Manchester City
Manchester United v Everton
Neither one of these sides has had the start to the season which they have desired. Both sides have been scoring the goals, but also failing to keep it tight at the back to win games. United have scored at least two goals in their last three league games but will have to play without captain Wayne Rooney this weekend as the Englishman is suspended after being sent off last time out against West Ham. Everton have only won one game this season so their manager, Roberto Martinez, needs to start finding wins before the Toffees fall into real danger. Everton have won the last two fixtures against the Red Devils, but Everton’s defence has let in too many goals this season for me so I think United will win this time out.
Manchester United 3-2 Everton
Chelsea v Arsenal
This will be Arsenal’s biggest test of the season so far as they meet fellow undefeated side Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea is currently top of the table and will be looking to emulate their performance from last season, which they won 6-0. Arsene Wenger is stuck with a lengthy injury list for this weekend, but the mid-week win in the Champions League against Galatasaray will bring some confidence to the side. Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas will line up against his former club and could well ensure they are made to regret not re-signing him. The Pensioners have won 25 of their last 30 home matches in the Premier League, scored at least two goals in six of the their last seven games in the league, and have kept a clean sheet in nine of their last 11 home matches in the league. Despite his mid-week hat-trick, I don’t think Englishman Danny Welbeck will find the net in this game. With this in mind, Chelsea should win this game.
Chelsea 3-0 Arsenal
Tottenham v Southampton
Tottenham have failed to win a Premier League game since the first game of the season when they beat QPR 4-0 at White Hart Lane. On the other hand, Southampton has won their last four games in the league and they sit in 2nd in the table. Italian Graziano Pelle has quickly become their top goal scorer with four goals and I think Spurs will find it hard to contain him this weekend. Southampton seem to be a more stronger team this season despite the summer departures and I think they’ll love to prove that to ex-boss and current Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino this weekend. If Spurs want a top four finish, they have to start winning games, especially at home, but I don’t think that starts in this game.
Tottenham 2-3 Southampton
West Ham v QPR
Another weekend with a London Derby as West Ham host QPR at Upton Park with both sides looking for points. QPR has only picked up four points in six games so far so they will be looking at this game as an opportunity to revitalise their season. They’ll be hoping Moroccan Adel Taarabt can return to action to help them pick up some more points. West Ham will be looking to emulate their performance from their last home game against Liverpool when they won 3-1, rather than the performance from their last league game against Manchester United which they lost 2-1. The possible return of Englishman Mark Noble will be a boost for the Hammers. I think West Ham will win this game as QPR have conceded at least two goals in their last three away games.
