Leeds United loanee Matthew Pennington has agreed a new three-year deal to stay with with parent club Everton to end the Yorkshire outfit’s hopes of bringing the 23-year-old to Elland Road on a permanent basis this summer, and Whites fans have been quick to react.
The Merseyside outfit announced on Friday that the defender had signed a contract to remain at Goodison Park, and the news may come as a blow for Paul Heckingbottom and the club who were keen to bring him in, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The centre-back, who also played as a right-back for the Whites on occasions during his season-loan spell, never really made the same impact that Kyle Bartley did the previous campaign, and he was often criticised by the Elland Road faithful on Twitter for his displays.

Leeds supporters took to social media to have their say on the contract agreement, and while one said “all of a sudden, Victor Orta looks like a football genius”, another said “would prefer Bartley on one leg anyway”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
