On Thursday the EFL presented their nominations for the Championship Manager of the Month award.
Marcelo Bielsa was on the list after guiding his team to third in the table but Lee Bowyer, Steve Cooper and Lee Johnson were also candidates.
Cooper eventually won the award, perhaps unsurprisingly given that Swansea are top of the table but the views of some Leeds supporters were indeed a surprise.
Rather than suggest their own manager deserved to pick up the prize, they all wanted Bowyer to win.
One fan stated that Bielsa didn’t need the curse of winning the award whilst another was adamant that the Charlton boss should have won, saying “Bowyer 1000%.”
The manager of the Addicks has steered his side to second and above Leeds. They are currently unbeaten after winning four of their opening six matches.
Given the adoration for Bielsa from supporters at Elland Road, to see his name not being mentioned as a winner was somewhat of a shock.
