Without straying too far into the realm of hyperbole, Robert Lewandowski has been one of the best players on the planet in 2019.
The incredible Polish attacker has already bagged a total of 27 goals in just 20 games across all competitions in 2019/20, including ten goals in just five Champions League bouts and 16 in 12 games in the Bundesliga.
Not many can come close to Bayern Munich’s lethal predator and who knows how many will he end up with if he continues this incredible trend moving forward.

But at the end of the day, Lewandowski is 31 years old already and despite his undeniable brilliance, time is bound to catch up with him sooner rather than later.
Luckily, the Bavarian giants already seem to have a backup plan in place.
Earlier this month, Bayern have been linked with a move for Red Bull Salzburg prodigy, Erling Braut Haaland, as the young striker is already making his mark on the footballing world (via Express).
Of course, they will face some stern competition from Manchester United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are seemingly the team most serious about snatching the 19-year-old talent and bringing him to England, as per The Times.
This deal could reportedly cost upwards of the £60m figure and considering we’re still talking about a very young player, it would definitely not be a cheap transaction.

But with 27 goals and seven assists in just 19 games across all competition, Haaland very much looks like the real deal. Not to mention that despite being so young and mostly inexperienced, the big stages don’t seem to frighten him at all.
Eight goals and one assist in just five Champions League clashes can certainly attest to that.
For that reason, both clubs have a valid excuse to chase him, even if it means coughing up big sums of money to land him.
Bayern will need someone to take over Lewandowski in the near future and the Red Devils haven’t had anyone to fill Romelu Lukaku’s void ever since the Belgian left for Inter Milan.
Considering he managed to bag 42 goals in 96 games while at Old Trafford, his absence is sure to be felt as the season goes on, despite Solskjaer having some talented players in his squad already.
We’ll have to wait and see what ends up happening with Haaland but at the moment it seems like he might be spoiled for choice once the time comes to make a decision on his future.
