Montpellier were leading the game in question 4-2 when proceedings were brought to an abrupt halt. Match officials were left with little choice but to suspended the game after seeing Diaw cross paths with a missile launched towards the field by those in the crowd.

The firecracker in question was already on the pitch as Diaw sought to retrieve the ball and get the game back underway. It then exploded as he made his way to the edge of the six-yard box, leading to the Senegal international crumpling to the turf.
